Eugenie Besserer was an American stage and film actress. She was born on December 25, 1868 in Watertown, New York. She began her career on the stage in the late 1880s, and made her Broadway debut in 1895. She appeared in numerous plays throughout her career, including The Little Minister, The Great Divide, and The Squaw Man. Besserer made her film debut in 1912, appearing in the silent film The New York Hat. She went on to appear in over 100 films, including The Birth of a Nation (1915), Intolerance (1916), and The Ten Commandments (1923). She retired from acting in the late 1920s. Besserer was married to actor and director William Humphrey from 1895 until his death in 1921. She died on April 28, 1934 in Los Angeles, California.
