Ervin Yen is a Taiwanese doctor and professor. He is the founder and chairman of the Taiwan Society of Anesthesiologists, and the president of the Taiwan Society of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Anesthesiologists. He is also a professor at the National Taiwan University College of Medicine. Yen was born in Taipei, Taiwan, on 14 December 1954. He graduated from the National Taiwan University College of Medicine in 1979 and completed his residency in anesthesiology at the National Taiwan University Hospital in 1983. He then went on to complete a fellowship in cardiovascular and thoracic anesthesiology at the University of California, San Francisco in 1988. Yen has been a professor at the National Taiwan University College of Medicine since 1989. He is the founder and chairman of the Taiwan Society of Anesthesiologists, and the president of the Taiwan Society of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Anesthesiologists. He is also a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the International Anesthesia Research Society, and the International Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists. Yen has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and has written several books on anesthesiology. He has also been awarded numerous honors and awards, including the National Science Council Award for Outstanding Research in Anesthesiology in 2002.
