Eric Foner is an American historian and professor of history at Columbia University. He is one of the most prominent historians of the Civil War and Reconstruction. He has written numerous books on the subject, including The Fiery Trial: Abraham Lincoln and American Slavery (2010), Reconstruction: America's Unfinished Revolution (1988), and Who Owns History? (2002). He is also the author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning book, The Story of American Freedom (1998). Foner has been awarded numerous honors, including the Bancroft Prize, the Pulitzer Prize, and the National Humanities Medal. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Philosophical Society. He is 78 years old and has a net worth of $2 million.
