Eric Benét is an American R&B and soul singer-songwriter and actor. He has released a total of six studio albums to date, with his most recent being The One in 2017. He has also appeared in several films and television shows, including the sitcom Girlfriends. Benét was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and raised in a musical family. His father, George Jordan, was a jazz bassist, and his mother, Patricia, was a singer. He began singing in church at the age of five, and by the age of nine, he was performing with his father's jazz band. Benét released his debut album, True to Myself, in 1996. The album was a success, spawning the hit single "Georgy Porgy" and earning Benét a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Vocal Performance. He followed up with the albums A Day in the Life (1999), Hurricane (2001), and Love & Life (2003). In addition to his music career, Benét has also appeared in several films and television shows, including the sitcom Girlfriends. He has also been featured in several commercials, including one for the NBA. Benét is currently married to Manuela Testolini, with whom he has two children. He also has a daughter from a previous relationship.
