Enrique Meneses is a Spanish director and producer who has worked in the film industry for over 50 years. He is best known for his work on the films El Espíritu de la Colmena (1973), El Sur (1983), and El Bosque Animado (1987). Meneses began his career in the 1950s as an assistant director on the film El Cid (1961). He then went on to direct his own films, including El Espíritu de la Colmena, which won the Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival in 1973. He also directed El Sur, which was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the 1983 Cannes Film Festival. Meneses has also produced several films, including El Bosque Animado, which won the Goya Award for Best Animated Film in 1987. He has also produced several television series, including the popular Spanish series El Comisario (1999-2006). Meneses has been honored with several awards throughout his career, including the Gold Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts from the Spanish government in 2004. He was also awarded the Gold Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts from the Spanish government in 2009.
