Eden Ahbez was an American songwriter and recording artist. He is best known for writing the song "Nature Boy," which was recorded by Nat King Cole in 1948. Ahbez was born Alexander Aberle in Brooklyn, New York, on April 15, 1908. He was raised in a Jewish family and was a self-taught musician. Ahbez began his career as a songwriter in the 1940s, writing songs for various artists. He wrote "Nature Boy" in 1947 and it was recorded by Nat King Cole in 1948. The song became a hit and was later covered by many other artists, including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and David Bowie. In the 1950s, Ahbez began recording his own music. He released several albums, including Eden's Island (1960) and Eden's Island Vol. 2 (1962). He also wrote and recorded the theme song for the 1960s television show The Flying Nun.
