Ed Staniowski is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Winnipeg Jets, St. Louis Blues, and Hartford Whalers. He was born on July 7, 1955, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada. Staniowski played junior hockey with the Regina Pats of the Western Canada Hockey League (WCHL) from 1972 to 1975. He was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the 1975 NHL Amateur Draft, and made his NHL debut with the Jets in the 1975–76 season. He played with the Jets until the 1979–80 season, when he was traded to the St. Louis Blues. He played with the Blues until the 1982–83 season, when he was traded to the Hartford Whalers. He played with the Whalers until the 1984–85 season, when he retired from the NHL. Staniowski played in a total of 441 NHL games, recording a record of 166 wins, 197 losses, and 57 ties. He had a career goals against average of 3.76 and a save percentage of .879. He was named to the NHL All-Star Game in 1979. After retiring from the NHL, Staniowski played in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Binghamton Whalers from 1985 to 1987. He then played in the International Hockey League (IHL) with the Fort Wayne Komets from 1987 to 1989. He retired from professional hockey in 1989.
