He played for the Washington Senators, Chicago White Sox, and Baltimore Orioles. Gayda was a right-handed pitcher who stood 6 feet tall and weighed 175 pounds. He had a career record of 11-17 with a 4.45 ERA. He also had a career batting average of .200 with one home run and seven RBIs. Gayda was married to his wife, Mary, for over 60 years. They had two children, a son and a daughter. Gayda was inducted into the Washington Senators Hall of Fame in 2004. He passed away on April 8, 2021 at the age of 94.

Edward C. Gayda (May 11, 1927 – December 11, 2021) was an American professional basketball player. Gayda was selected in the second round (15th pick overall) of the 1950 NBA draft by the Tri-Cities Blackhawks after a collegiate career at Washington State. He played for the Blackhawks in 15 total games in 1951–52. In 2014, he was inducted into the Pac-12 Hall of Honor.
