Don Black is an English lyricist and songwriter. He is best known for his collaborations with composer John Barry, with whom he wrote the theme songs for the James Bond films "Diamonds Are Forever" (1971) and "Thunderball" (1965). He has also written lyrics for many other films, including "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" (1968), "Born Free" (1966), and "The Italian Job" (1969). He has also written lyrics for musicals, including "Sunset Boulevard" (1993) and "Aspects of Love" (1989). He has won two Academy Awards for Best Original Song, for "Born Free" and "The Shadow of Your Smile" (1965). He was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2005.
