Debra Saunders is an American journalist and columnist who was born in 1954. She is a columnist for the Las Vegas Review-Journal and a Fox News contributor. She is also a syndicated columnist for Creators Syndicate. Saunders graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1976 with a degree in political science. She began her career as a reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle in 1979. She was a White House correspondent for the paper from 1989 to 1992. Saunders has written for numerous publications, including the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, and the San Francisco Examiner. She has also written several books, including The World According to Gore (2000) and The Divine Right of Capital (2001). Saunders is married to former San Francisco Chronicle editor and publisher William German. They have two children.
