David Weber is an American science fiction and fantasy author. He was born on October 24, 1952 in Cleveland, Ohio. He is best known for his Honor Harrington series, which has been adapted into a successful video game and a comic book series. He has also written several other science fiction and fantasy novels, as well as several short stories. Weber attended the University of Missouri, where he earned a degree in history. After college, he worked as a technical writer for the United States Navy. He began writing science fiction and fantasy in the late 1980s, and his first novel, On Basilisk Station, was published in 1993. Weber has since written over thirty novels, as well as several short stories. He has won numerous awards for his work, including the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer in 1994, the Prometheus Award for Best Novel in 1995, and the Sidewise Award for Best Alternate History Novel in 1996. Weber is currently 71 years old and has an estimated net worth of $10 million.
