David Reddaway is a Canadian diplomat and former ambassador to the United Kingdom. He was born in Ottawa, Canada on April 26, 1953. He attended the University of Toronto and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1975. He then went on to pursue a Master of Arts degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics in 1977. Reddaway began his career in the Canadian Foreign Service in 1978. He served in various positions in the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C., the Canadian High Commission in London, and the Canadian Embassy in Moscow. In 1997, he was appointed Ambassador to the United Kingdom, a position he held until 2002. Reddaway has also served as the Canadian Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, and as the Canadian High Commissioner to India. He was appointed to the Order of Canada in 2003. Reddaway had the honour of celebrating his 64th birthday at a Chris De Burgh concert. De Burgh announced Sir David's birthday to a packed audience at the London Palladium on April 26, 2017, and gave a brief account of his role as a diplomat. He then sang the Beatles song 'When I'm 64.'

He served as High Commissioner to Canada between 2003 and 2006. In 2006 he was appointed the British ambassador to Ireland and presented his diplomatic credentials to the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese on 12 September 2006, succeeding Stewart Eldon as British ambassador to Ireland.

He joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1975. His career has included assignments to Iran (during the Iranian revolution), India, Spain, Argentina and Afghanistan.
