David Levdansky is an American politician and economist who served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1983 to 2012. He was born on October 16, 1954 in Monongahela, Pennsylvania. He graduated from California University of Pennsylvania with a degree in economics and political science. Levdansky was first elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1982 and served until 2012. During his tenure, he served as the Democratic Caucus Chairman and was a member of the Appropriations, Finance, and Rules Committees. He was also the Chairman of the House Democratic Policy Committee. Levdansky was a strong advocate for economic development, education, and health care reform. He was a leader in the effort to pass the Pennsylvania Lottery and the Children's Health Insurance Program. He also worked to pass legislation to protect the environment and to promote renewable energy. Levdansky is currently a Senior Fellow at the Allegheny Institute for Public Policy. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Economy League and the Pennsylvania Environmental Council. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Environmental Council. Levdansky has been married to his wife, Mary, since 1978. They have two children.
