David Coon is a Canadian politician who has served as the leader of the Green Party of New Brunswick since 2012. He was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in 2014, representing the riding of Fredericton South. Coon was born on 28 October 1956 in Toronto, Ontario. He attended the University of Toronto, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1978 and a Master of Arts degree in 1981. He then moved to New Brunswick, where he worked as a community organizer and environmental activist. Coon was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in 2014, representing the riding of Fredericton South. He was re-elected in 2018 and 2020. In 2012, he was elected leader of the Green Party of New Brunswick, and he has held the position ever since. Coon is married to his wife, Mary, and they have two children.
