He later moved into filmmaking, directing the short film Portal: No Escape in 2011, which was based on the video game Portal. He then directed the 2016 feature film 10 Cloverfield Lane, which was a critical and commercial success. Trachtenberg is also the host of the podcast The Film Vault, which he co-hosts with his friends Anderson Cowan and Cory Cavin.
