Chiu Chuang-chin is a Taiwanese politician who has served as the Minister of the Interior since 2016. He was born on 12 July 1956 in Taipei, Taiwan. He graduated from National Taiwan University with a degree in law in 1979. Chiu began his political career in 1989 when he was elected to the Legislative Yuan. He served as the Deputy Secretary-General of the Executive Yuan from 2000 to 2002 and as the Minister of the Interior from 2002 to 2004. He was re-elected to the Legislative Yuan in 2008 and served as the Deputy Speaker from 2012 to 2016. Chiu was appointed as the Minister of the Interior in 2016. He has been credited with introducing a number of reforms to the ministry, including the establishment of a new department to handle immigration and refugee issues.
