Chico Anysio is a Brazilian actor, writer, composer, and television presenter. He is best known for his work on the television show Casseta & Planeta, which he co-created and starred in. He has also appeared in numerous films, television shows, and stage productions. He has won several awards, including the Latin Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album in 2004. Anysio was born in Maranguape, Ceará, Brazil, on April 12, 1931. He began his career as a singer and comedian in the 1950s, and soon became a popular figure in Brazilian television. He was a regular on the variety show Programa Silvio Santos, and in the 1970s he created the comedy show Casseta & Planeta, which ran for over 20 years. Anysio has also appeared in several films, including the Academy Award-nominated Central Station (1998) and the critically acclaimed City of God (2002). He has also written and composed several songs, including the theme song for the television show Casseta & Planeta. Anysio has won numerous awards, including the Latin Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album in 2004. He was also awarded the Order of Rio Branco by the Brazilian government in 2006.
