Chas Balun is an American musician, producer, and songwriter. He is best known for his work with the punk rock band The Misfits. He has also worked with other bands such as The Damned, The Cramps, and The Flesh Eaters. Balun was born in Los Angeles, California, and grew up in the San Fernando Valley. He began playing guitar at the age of 12 and was influenced by the music of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Kinks. In the late 1970s, Balun joined The Misfits and played guitar on their first two albums, Walk Among Us and Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood. He also co-wrote several songs with the band, including "Where Eagles Dare" and "Die, Die My Darling". In the 1980s, Balun worked with The Damned, producing their albums Phantasmagoria and Anything. He also produced albums for The Cramps and The Flesh Eaters. In the 1990s, Balun produced albums for bands such as The Dwarves, The Vandals, and The Queers. He also produced the soundtrack for the movie The Crow. In the 2000s, Balun produced albums for bands such as The Donnas, The Dictators, and The Dwarves. He also produced the soundtrack for the movie The Devil's Rejects. In recent years, Balun has continued to produce albums for bands such as The Dwarves, The Vandals, and The Queers. " Besides writing, he was also an underground cartoonist, a graphic designer (he designed the monster for the 1991 Fred Olen Ray horror comedy "Evil Toons"), and a t-shirt designer. Balun lived with his wife Pat in his home in Westminster, California.

Born in 1948 in Compton, California, Balun grew up as a hippie in the 1960s in Southern California.
