Celestino Obua is a Ugandan physician, pharmacologist, academic, and academic administrator. He was born in 1953 and is currently 70 years old. He is the current Vice Chancellor of Mbarara University of Science and Technology in Uganda. Obua obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree from Makerere University in Uganda in 1979. He then went on to obtain a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Pharmacology from the University of London in 1983. He also holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Pharmacology from the University of London, which he obtained in 1988. Obua has held various academic and administrative positions in the past. He was the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Makerere University from 2002 to 2006. He was also the Director of the Uganda National Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Development from 2006 to 2011. In 2011, Obua was appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Mbarara University of Science and Technology. He has held this position ever since. Obua is a Fellow of the Uganda National Academy of Sciences and a Fellow of the Uganda National Council for Higher Education. He is also a member of the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council. As of 2021, Celestino Obua's net worth is estimated to be around $1 million.
