Moniz was born in Terceira, Açores, Portugal, on 2 August 1948. He studied music at the Conservatório Nacional de Lisboa and the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa. He has composed music for films, television, and theatre, and has written and performed in numerous plays and films. Moniz has released several albums, including “Fado de Carlos Alberto Moniz” (1978), “Fado de Carlos Alberto Moniz II” (1980), “Fado de Carlos Alberto Moniz III” (1982), “Fado de Carlos Alberto Moniz IV” (1984), and “Fado de Carlos Alberto Moniz V” (1986).
