Carl-Henric Svanberg is a Swedish businessman who has been the Chairman of Volvo since October 2019. He was born on 29 May 1952 in Porjus, Sweden. He is the former Chairman of BP and Ericsson. Svanberg graduated from the University of Lund in 1976 with a degree in economics. He began his career at Ericsson in 1976, where he held various positions, including President and CEO from 1997 to 2002. He was Chairman of the Board of Ericsson from 2002 to 2009. In 2009, Svanberg was appointed Chairman of BP, a position he held until 2011. He was also Chairman of the Board of Directors of AB Volvo from 2011 to 2019. Svanberg is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences and the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the World Economic Forum.
