He attended East Tennessee State University, where he studied music and business. In addition to his work with The Swineys, Swiney has released two solo albums, "The C. C. Swiney Project" in 2011, and "The C. C. Swiney Project II" in 2016. Swiney has toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe, and has performed at numerous festivals, including Bonnaroo, SXSW, and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival.
