In 2001 he became a silent partner of The Tote Hotel, and became owner in 2007 until its closure in 2010 which left him thousands of dollars in debt.

1982

Between November 1978 - October 1982 he co-edited the audio cassette magazine Fast Forward with co-founder Andrew Maine. Described as a tape-recorded radio show, it was distributed overseas by Rough Trade but ended after its two founders fell out. The magazine has since been digitised and is hosted by RMIT University.

1980

During the 1980s Milne worked with Virgin Records in their artists and repertoire (A&R) division, before starting Reliant Records through PolyGram. In 1999 he was appointed the Melbourne A&R executive for EMI Australia, and later co-founded In-Fidelity Recordings with Steve Stavrakis in 2002. In the 2000s Milne returned to working at Greville Records in Prahran, where he had first worked during his 20s.

1979

In 1979 Milne co-founded Au-Go-Go Records with Philip Morland, which later expanded into their own record store. The label developed a relationship with Sub Pop and released their artists like Sonic Youth thanks to Sub Pop founder Bruce Pavitt previously contributing music to Fast Forward

1970

Milne began his career in the 1970s hosting music programs on Swinburne Tech radio, 3CR Melbourne, and community radio station 3RRR. He co-founded Pulp, a punk fanzine created with Clinton Walker in 1977, and went onto edit Roadrunner, another music magazine which launched in March 1978. Milne left the magazine as it didn't make enough money and began working for Missing Link Records.
