He is best known for his career in the ring, where he won multiple titles and was a two-time Australian heavyweight champion. Silchev began his boxing career in the 1940s and quickly rose to prominence, becoming the Australian heavyweight champion in 1951 and 1952. He also won the Australian middleweight title in 1954 and the Australian light heavyweight title in 1956. Silchev's career was cut short in 1957 when he suffered a serious eye injury in a fight. He retired from boxing in 1958 and has since become a boxing trainer and mentor to many young boxers. Silchev is married and has two children. He currently resides in Melbourne, Australia.
