Bob Malach is an American jazz saxophonist and composer. He is best known for his work with the late jazz greats Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, and Wayne Shorter. He has also worked with a variety of other jazz artists, including Chick Corea, John Scofield, and Joe Lovano. Malach was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and began playing the saxophone at the age of nine. He attended the University of Miami, where he studied with jazz greats such as Ira Sullivan and Gary Campbell. After graduating, he moved to New York City and began performing with a variety of jazz groups. Malach has released several albums as a leader, including "The Bob Malach Quartet" (1995), "The Bob Malach Quartet Live" (1997), and "The Bob Malach Quartet: Live at the Blue Note" (1999). He has also appeared on numerous recordings as a sideman, including Miles Davis' "Tutu" (1986) and Herbie Hancock's "The New Standard" (1996). Malach has toured extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and Japan. He has also performed at numerous jazz festivals, including the Montreux Jazz Festival, the North Sea Jazz Festival, and the Newport Jazz Festival.
