Biddy Baxter is a British television producer and editor who is best known for her work on the children's television series Blue Peter. She was born on 25 May 1933 in Leicester, Leicestershire, England. She attended the University of Leicester and graduated with a degree in English. Baxter began her career in television in 1957, working as a production assistant on the BBC's current affairs programme Panorama. She then moved to the BBC's children's department, where she worked as a producer and editor on a number of programmes, including Blue Peter. She was the longest-serving editor of the show, from 1965 to 1988. During her time on the show, she was responsible for introducing a number of popular features, including the Blue Peter badge and the Blue Peter garden. Baxter was awarded an MBE in the 1988 New Year Honours for her services to children's television. She has also been awarded honorary degrees from the University of Leicester and the University of East Anglia. Baxter is now retired and lives in London. She is 88 years old.
