Bernard Benton is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1977 to 1989. He held the WBA light heavyweight title from 1983 to 1984. Benton was born on 6 January 1957 in Toledo, Ohio. He began boxing at the age of 15 and had an amateur record of 40-2. He turned professional in 1977 and won his first 21 fights. In 1983, Benton won the WBA light heavyweight title by defeating Leslie Stewart. He defended the title twice before losing it to Dwight Muhammad Qawi in 1984. Benton retired from boxing in 1989 with a record of 44-7-1. He was inducted into the Ohio Boxing Hall of Fame in 2011. As of 2021, Bernard Benton's net worth is estimated to be roughly $1 million.
