Benno Besson is a Swiss film director, screenwriter, and producer. He is best known for his work on the films The Swissmakers (1958), The Swiss Conspiracy (1966), and The Swissmakers 2 (1968). He has also directed several television series, including the popular Swiss series The Swiss Family Robinson (1970-1971). Besson was born in Yverdon-les-Bains, Vaud, Switzerland. He studied at the University of Lausanne and the University of Zurich, where he received a degree in philosophy. He began his career as a journalist and then moved into film production. Besson has directed over 30 films and television series, including the popular Swiss series The Swiss Family Robinson (1970-1971). He has also written several books, including The Swiss Conspiracy (1966) and The Swissmakers 2 (1968). Besson has received numerous awards for his work, including the Swiss Film Prize in 1966 and the Swiss Television Prize in 1971. He was also awarded the Swiss National Prize for Culture in 1975.
