Barry Wolmarans is a former South African rugby union player who played for the Springboks from 1975 to 1981. He was a member of the South African team that won the Rugby World Cup in 1995. He also represented South Africa in the 1977 British Lions tour. Wolmarans was born in Oudtshoorn, South Africa, and attended the University of Stellenbosch. He made his debut for the Springboks in 1975 against the All Blacks in Johannesburg. He went on to play in 11 Tests for South Africa, including the 1995 Rugby World Cup final against New Zealand. Wolmarans retired from rugby in 1981 and went on to become a successful businessman. He is currently the chairman of the South African Rugby Union. He is also a member of the International Rugby Board.

Wolmarans made his test match debut for the Springboks against the World XV on 27 August 1977 at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria and scored a try in his debut test. He was selected for the 1981 tour to New Zealand and the USA and played six matches on tour.

1975

Wolmarans made his provincial debut for Boland while studying at the Wellington Teachers College. He joined the Free State in 1975 and played 116 matches for the union and was part of the team that won the Currie Cup in 1976. At the time of his retirement in 1984, Wolmarans and his fly–half partner, De Wet Ras played together as a combination on 89 occasions, which was a South African provincial record at the time.
