Hamilton was born on October 30, 1980 in Oakland, California. She was raised by her mother, a single parent, and spent much of her childhood in poverty. She attended the University of California, Berkeley, where she studied business and economics. After college, Hamilton worked in the music industry, managing artists and booking tours.
