She attended the University of East Anglia, where she studied English and Drama. Davies began her career in television in the early 1980s, working as a presenter for the BBC's regional news programme, Look East. She then moved to London to work as a presenter for BBC News 24. She has also presented for BBC Radio 4 and BBC World Service. Davies has been a regular presenter on BBC Breakfast since 2003. She has also presented the BBC's coverage of the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton in 2011. Davies is married to the journalist and author, David Aaronovitch.
