He received his B.A. from Harvard University in 1978 and his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1983. Caplin is a leading expert in the fields of macroeconomics, public finance, and behavioral economics. He has published numerous articles in leading academic journals and has written several books, including "Behavioral Foundations of Macroeconomics" (Princeton University Press, 2011). Caplin has held numerous positions in academia, including the John L. Weinberg/Goldman Sachs & Co. Chair in Economics at Princeton University, the John L. Weinberg/Goldman Sachs & Co.
