Andrei Bukin is a Russian ice dancer who was born on 10 June, 1957 in Moscow, Russia. He is best known for his partnership with Elena Bechke, with whom he won the 1984 Olympic gold medal, two World Championships, and four European Championships. Bukin began skating at the age of seven and was coached by Natalia Dubova. He competed in singles until the age of 15, when he switched to ice dancing. He and Bechke began skating together in 1975 and won their first major title, the Soviet National Championships, in 1979. Bukin and Bechke went on to win the 1984 Olympic gold medal, two World Championships, and four European Championships. They also won the 1981 World Professional Championships. After retiring from competitive skating, Bukin and Bechke toured professionally for several years. Bukin has since become a coach and choreographer. He has coached many of the world's top ice dancers, including Oksana Grishuk and Evgeny Platov, Tatiana Navka and Roman Kostomarov, and Elena Grushina and Ruslan Goncharov. Bukin is married to former ice dancer Tatiana Tarasova. They have two children.
