Andrea Mead is an American former alpine ski racer who won two gold medals at the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo, Norway. She was the first American woman to win two gold medals in a single Olympics. She also won the World Cup in 1954 and was the first American woman to do so. Mead was born in Rutland, Vermont, and began skiing at the age of four. She was a member of the U.S. Ski Team from 1949 to 1956. She won the slalom and giant slalom events at the 1952 Olympics, becoming the first American woman to win two gold medals in a single Olympics. She also won the World Cup in 1954, becoming the first American woman to do so. Mead retired from competitive skiing in 1956 and went on to become a ski instructor and coach. She was inducted into the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame in 1972 and the National Ski Hall of Fame in 1973. She was also inducted into the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame in 2005. Mead is currently 88 years old. She has a height of 5 feet 5 inches (1.65 m). Her net worth is estimated to be around $1 million. She is currently single.
