Fischer was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and began his career as a musician, playing drums for the band The Crusaders. He later moved to Los Angeles, where he began acting in films and television. Fischer has been married twice, first to actress and singer Lola Falana, and later to actress and singer Tanya Boyd. He has two children, a son and a daughter. Fischer has a net worth of $2 million.
