Anacleto Rapping is an American photographer and pedagogue. He was born in San Jose, California, United States, on November 26, 1954. He is best known for his work in the field of photography, which he has been teaching since the early 1980s. Rapping has been a professor of photography at the San Francisco Art Institute since 1983. He has also taught at the University of California, Berkeley, and the California College of the Arts. He has been a visiting professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, and the University of California, Santa Cruz. Rapping has exhibited his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the United States and abroad. His work has been featured in publications such as The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and The San Francisco Chronicle. He has also been featured in several books, including Anacleto Rapping: Photographs (2005) and Anacleto Rapping: A Retrospective (2008). Rapping has received numerous awards and honors, including the San Francisco Art Institute's Distinguished Alumni Award in 2006 and the California College of the Arts' Distinguished Alumni Award in 2008.
