Vaneese began her career in the early 1970s, singing background vocals for artists such as Aretha Franklin, Luther Vandross, and Chaka Khan. She released her debut album, Vaneese, in 1982. Since then, she has released several albums, including Love Is (1985), Out of the Blue (1989), and My Heart (1995).
Vaneese has also collaborated with many other artists, including Ray Charles, B.B. King, and Bonnie Raitt. She has also performed on television shows such as The Tonight Show and The Arsenio Hall Show.
