In 2015, the book "The Creature Chronicles: Exploring the Black Lagoon Trilogy" (McFarland & Co., 2014) by Weaver, David Schecter and Steve Kronenberg won the Ray & Pat Browne Award for Best Reference/Primary Source Work in Popular Culture and American Culture.

2001

Weaver has written liner notes, production histories and cast bios for hundreds of laser discs, DVDs and Blu-rays; provided scores of DVD audio commentaries (mostly for horror and sci-fi movies, including Creature from the Black Lagoon and its sequels); and guested on movie-related documentary series on "American Movie Classics" and E!An article co-written by Weaver and Bob Burns appeared in the 2001 edition of "The Best American Movie Writing", an annual publication that reprints important essays on film history. It was one of 26 pieces chosen from more than 320 books and magazines, including The New Yorker and The New York Times. Weaver is a multiple-time winner of the Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Award, a fan-based award presented each year for the best in horror movie research and appreciation.
