Elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993 (as a member of Sly and the Family Stone).

1974

Married his girlfriend Kathy Silva at Madison Square Garden before 21,000 guests on June 4, 1974 to help boost attendance for a concert that wasn't selling very well. The event was dreamed up by Stone and Silva and his manager and turned out to be an enormous success. But the marriage wasn't so successful, Silva filed for divorce four months later.

Was a disc jockey and record producer in the San Francisco area before becoming a recording artist. As a producer he worked for Autumn Records, which was The Beau Brummels' label, and he produced the Bobby Freeman 1965 hit "C'mon and Swim" on that label.
