Scott Ellis is an American director and choreographer. He was born on April 19, 1957 in Washington, DC. He is best known for his work on Broadway, including the Tony Award-winning revival of She Loves Me, the Tony Award-nominated revival of The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and the Tony Award-nominated revival of On the Twentieth Century. Ellis attended the University of Michigan, where he earned a BFA in directing. He then went on to study at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Ellis has been nominated for nine Tony Awards, winning two for Best Direction of a Musical for She Loves Me and The Mystery of Edwin Drood. He has also been nominated for two Drama Desk Awards, two Outer Critics Circle Awards, and two Drama League Awards. Ellis has been married to actress and singer Christine Ebersole since 1992.
