Aykroyd was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on February 5, 1922. He attended St. Patrick's High School in Ottawa, Ontario, and later studied at the University of Ottawa. Aykroyd began his career in the entertainment industry in the late 1950s, appearing in various television shows and films. He made his feature film debut in the 1971 film The Bed Sitting Room. He went on to appear in a number of other films, including The Blues Brothers (1980), Ghostbusters (1984), and Trading Places (1983). Aykroyd has also appeared in numerous television shows, including Saturday Night Live (1975-1979), The Simpsons (1989-present), and SCTV (1976-1981). Aykroyd has been married twice. He was first married to actress Donna Dixon from 1983 to 2009. He is currently married to actress Carrie Fisher, whom he married in 2010. As of 2021, P.H.
