Morris Ankrum was an American actor who had a long career in film and television. He was born on August 28, 1897 in Danville, Illinois. He attended the University of Illinois and served in the United States Army during World War I. Ankrum began his acting career in the 1930s, appearing in films such as The Invisible Man Returns (1940), The Mummy's Hand (1940), and The Wolf Man (1941). He also appeared in numerous westerns, including The Lone Ranger (1938), The Cisco Kid (1939), and The Durango Kid (1945). In the 1950s, Ankrum began appearing in television shows, including The Adventures of Superman, The Lone Ranger, and The Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok. He also appeared in the science fiction films The War of the Worlds (1953) and Earth vs. the Flying Saucers (1956). Ankrum's last film role was in the western The Big Country (1958). He died on September 2, 1964 in Hollywood, California. Morris Ankrum had an estimated net worth of $1 million at the time of his death.
