Mauricio Alfaro is a retired Salvadoran footballer who played as a defender. He was born on 13 February 1956 in Zacatecoluca, El Salvador. He began his career in the youth divisions of local club Alianza FC, and made his professional debut in 1975. He went on to play for several clubs in El Salvador, including FAS, Atlético Marte, and Municipal Limeño. He also had a brief stint in the United States with the Los Angeles Heat in the American Professional Soccer League. Alfaro was a member of the El Salvador national team from 1975 to 1989, and was part of the squad that competed in the 1982 FIFA World Cup. He made a total of 81 appearances for El Salvador, scoring one goal. After retiring from playing, Alfaro became a coach. He has managed several clubs in El Salvador, including Alianza FC, FAS, and Isidro Metapán. He has also managed the El Salvador national team on two occasions.
