Little Richard is an American singer, songwriter, and pianist. He is considered to be one of the pioneers of rock and roll music, and is known for his flamboyant stage presence and powerful vocals. He is also known for his hits such as "Tutti Frutti", "Long Tall Sally", and "Good Golly Miss Molly". Little Richard was born Richard Wayne Penniman on December 5, 1932, in Macon, Georgia. He was the third of twelve children born to Charles and Leva Mae Penniman. His father was a church deacon and his mother was a church organist. Little Richard began playing the piano at the age of five and was performing in local churches by the age of ten. He was influenced by gospel music, blues, and jazz. He began performing professionally in the early 1950s, and his first hit single, "Tutti Frutti", was released in 1955. Little Richard's career was interrupted in 1957 when he joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He returned to music in 1962 and continued to record and perform until his retirement in 1977. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986. Little Richard has an estimated net worth of $40 million.
