Ken Anderson was an American animator, writer, and art director who worked for Walt Disney Productions. He was born on March 17, 1909 in Seattle, Washington. Anderson began his career in animation in the early 1930s, working on the Silly Symphonies series. He was a key figure in the development of the multiplane camera, which allowed for greater depth and detail in animation. Anderson also wrote and directed several shorts, including The Old Mill (1937), which won an Academy Award for Best Short Subject. Anderson worked on several feature films, including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), Pinocchio (1940), and Fantasia (1940). He also wrote and directed the animated feature, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (1949). Anderson retired from Disney in the 1950s and went on to work in television, writing and directing for shows such as The Mickey Mouse Club and The Adventures of Spin and Marty. Anderson died on July 26, 1993 in Los Angeles, California. He was 84 years old.

A graduate with a degree in architecture, he began film work at MGM but joined Walt Disney (who would refer to him as his 'Jack of all Trades') to animated Silly Symphonies cartoons. He excelled as a background/layout artist and was soon promoted to art director for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, Fantasia, and The Reluctant Dragon. He created Shere Khan for The Jungle Book and was influential in the production design for Sleeping Beauty, One Hundred and One Dalmatians, and The Aristocats. He retired from animation in 1978, though contributing to Walt Disney Imagineering projects at Epcot.
