John Cowsill is an American musician, best known as a founding member of the 1960s pop group The Cowsills. He was born on March 2, 1956 in Newport, Rhode Island. He is the youngest of seven children born to Bud and Barbara Cowsill. John began playing drums at the age of five and was soon joined by his siblings in the family band. The Cowsills released their first single, "The Rain, The Park & Other Things," in 1967 and went on to have several hits, including "Hair" and "Indian Lake." John left the band in 1969 and went on to pursue a solo career. He released his first solo album, John Cowsill, in 1972. He has since released several other solo albums, including The John Cowsill Band (1980), The John Cowsill Band Live (1982), and John Cowsill & The Beach Boys (1985). John has also worked as a session musician, playing drums on albums by artists such as The Beach Boys, The Monkees, and The Partridge Family. He has also toured with The Beach Boys and The Monkees. In 2011, Cowsill was confirmed to be performing alongside The Beach Boys on their 50th Anniversary Reunion Tour. Cowsill appears on the band's subsequent studio album, That's Why God Made the Radio (2012). He also performed on Mike Love's solo albums Unleash the Love (2017) and Reason for the Season (2018).

John Cowsill (born March 2, 1956 in Newport, Rhode Island) is an American musician, best known for his work as a singer and drummer with his siblings' band, The Cowsills. He is currently a drummer and vocalist for The Beach Boys touring band, which features original Beach Boy Mike Love and long time member Bruce Johnston. He has also played keyboards for the "Beach Boys Band", and according to the band's website, he does Al Jardine's and the late Carl Wilson's vocal parts. He also has performed and recorded with Jan and Dean. In the early 1980s, he recorded with the one hit wonder band Tommy Tutone, playing percussion and singing back-up vocals on the band's hit, "867-5309/Jenny", although he did not appear in the video.
