Ordaz was a successful junior player, winning the Mexican National Junior Championships in 1972 and 1973. He turned professional in 1974 and reached a career-high singles ranking of World No. 39 in 1979. He won two singles titles and four doubles titles during his career. Ordaz represented Mexico in the Davis Cup from 1975 to 1983, compiling a record of 15 wins and 11 losses. He also represented Mexico in the Pan American Games in 1975 and 1979. Ordaz retired from professional tennis in 1983. He currently works as a tennis coach in Mexico City. He is married and has two children.
