1965

Glass was a frequent attendee of the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Symposia. In 1965, Glass became the first Academic Vice-President and Professor of Biological Sciences at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Glass was a critic of creationism. He was an honorary member of the National Association of Biology Teachers. He was elected to the American Academy of Arts & Sciences and the United States National Academy of Sciences in 1959, and to the American Philosophical Society in 1963.

Like his doctoral mentor H. J. Muller, Bentley Glass was deeply concerned about eugenics. In response to the views of Charles Davenport, Morris Steggerda and others, Glass wrote "Geneticists Embattled: Their Stand Against Rampant Eugenics and Racism in America During the 1920s and 1930s".
