Bryan Brown is an Australian actor and producer who has appeared in numerous films and television series. He is best known for his roles in the films Breaker Morant (1980), Cocktail (1988), F/X (1986), Gorillas in the Mist (1988), and The Thorn Birds (1983). Brown began his career in the late 1960s, appearing in television series such as Homicide and Matlock Police. He made his feature film debut in the 1975 drama The Love Letters from Teralba Road. He went on to appear in a number of Australian films, including The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith (1978), Newsfront (1978), and The Club (1980). In the 1980s, Brown began to appear in Hollywood films, including Breaker Morant (1980), F/X (1986), Cocktail (1988), and Gorillas in the Mist (1988). He also starred in the miniseries The Thorn Birds (1983), for which he won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Miniseries or Television Film. In the 1990s, Brown continued to appear in films such as The Big Steal (1990), Two Hands (1999), and The Tailor of Panama (2001). He also starred in the television series G.P. (1989–1996) and SeaChange (1998–2000). In recent years, Brown has appeared in films such as Australia (2008), The Light Between Oceans (2016), and Red Dog: True Blue (2016). He also starred in the television series Rake (2010–2018). Brown has been married to actress Rachel Ward since 1983. They have two children, Matilda and Rosie.
