He also directed the film All That Jazz, which won him an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Fosse was the recipient of eight Tony Awards, including one for lifetime achievement. Fosse died on 14th Street NW, Washington, D.C. on the corner closest to the J.W. Marriott Hotel of a heart attack. He was walking from the Willard Hotel across the street to the National Theater a block away to direct one of his stage plays.
